Busy bags to keep kids entertained! #imagination #diy #busybag #keepthembusy #kids #travel

Back when I was on maternity leave with Sophie a fellow mommy friend organized a busy bag swap! The idea behind busy bags are DIY activities that can be reused by your children  at home, road trips, air plane rides, restaurants, doctors offices and the lists go on...

How to plan a busy bag swap of your own!
  • Get a group of around 10 people to participate.
  • Decide what busy bag activity each person is going to make and what age group the activities the busy bags will be geared towards.
  • Decide on your budget for making the busy bags.
  • Each person makes the busy bag activity for every person participating and as the participant you receive busy bag activity from all the other participants.
  • Pick a day/time to do the busy bag swap.
  • Pick up cheap travel size bag to keep the activities in and keep it in a accessible place to grab it quickly before leaving the house - or even to keep in your vehicle, diaper bag, where ever.

Want to make a quick busy bag activity? I found this one on Pinterest! Sophie plays with these at home and brings them out with her. They have been shapes, necklaces, towers, a phone (yes a phone), and anything else that her imagination creates.

You will need a glue gun, small circle velcro, and popsicle sticks. (Purchased at dollarama)

The velcro will have sticky back but it's important to glue them in place so that the velcro stays.

When gluing the velcro on the popsicle sticks glue put the rough sides of the velcro on one end and the soft sides on the other end.

Once the glue drys you are good to go!
